Ice Dyeing and blog hop winner

First things first:
the winner of the Schnibbles Full House pastern is Sandy. Congratulations!

This weekend I decided to try some Ice Dyeing.
I really liked how my snow dyes turned out a couple of years ago. And I needed some red and oranges for a quilt in progress.

Here are two tutorials:

My set up:
soda ash soaked fabric on baker's racks over a plastic tub, I put a couple of small pieces in the tub to soak up the extra dyes.

I covered them with plastic, put them in the garage and let the ice melt and fabrics sit about 18-20 hours.

Rinse the fabrics, wash and dry the fabrics and magic!

One interesting thing which I've never had happen: an imprint of the grid was made on the fabrics[in center of photo]:

It is just in one spot. I wonder if it's something I can reproduce?

The small pieces are just what I need for my current project, and the larger ones look like a summer garden!...that sounds like an interesting quilt...

HO HO HO blog hop and giveaway

It's my turn, well actually tomorrow is my day, but I'm posting a day early!

I LOVE Christmas fabric! Every year I say I'm not buying more, and every year I buy more.
I have one finished project and a couple of works in progress. Also there is a Christmas/winter top ready to be quilted is on last week's post.

First up is my version of the Scnibbles Full House pattern:

I used a charm pack of A Merry Little Christmas by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake, and yardage for the border. [Confession: I cut the roofs wrong and had to order extra fabric! so I used it in the borders too!}

NEXT: Christmas Ornaments

This is from Vicki's pattern: Texas Teardrops http://www.quiltinglodgeblog.com/p/texas-teardrops-quilt-along.html at Quilting Lodge http://www.quiltinglodgeblog.com/
I made the blocks small and left more background space. I used a layer cake of Kate Spain's Joy from Moda [last year].
I think I will take this one apart and quilt it 1/2 at a time.

So yesterday, was my ArtQuilt group meeting, and the LQS {cotton Feilds, Washington, NC}had her anniversiary sale.
This fabric wouldn't let me leave the Store without it:

So I thought why not another house quilt?

BUT maybe it needs another border?

Of course it still needs doors on the houses, probably black on white, and maybe some beading after quilting.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Green tree border, or NOT?
Leave a comment, and I'll pick a random winner to recieve my Scnibbles Full House pattern
